






A rotary drum granulator is a granulation device that forms granules by using the rotation of a drum to cause material to tumble and bind together; it primarily employs a wet agglomeration granulation process. The main body of the equipment consists of a cylindrical drum positioned horizontally or at a slight incline . After entering from one end, the material continuously tumbles and collides as the drum rotates; under the influence of an appropriate amount of liquid phase (water, steam, or a binder), it agglomerates into spheres and is finally discharged from the other end.
This equipment is suitable for cold and hot granulation processes, as well as for the large-scale production of high-, medium-, and low-concentration compound fertilizers. In compound fertilizer production, inputs such as steam, gaseous ammonia, phosphoric acid, nitrogen solutions, or ammonium phosphate slurry can be introduced into the drum, allowing both chemical reactions and the granulation process to take place within the unit.

The rotary drum granulator features a robust structural design and a rational modular layout. The machine contains no delicate, easily damaged precision parts, resulting in an extremely low failure rate. It comprises six core modules that work in synergy to ensure granulation efficiency and product quality:
The core forming component of the equipment, constructed from thickened, wear-resistant steel plate. The inner wall is treated for anti-sticking and wear resistance. The inclination angle is finely adjustable—determining material residence time and granulation results—while the diameter and length can be customized based on production capacity requirements.

Composed of a main motor, gearbox, pulleys, large and small gear rings, and couplings. It utilizes national-standard, maintenance-free drive components, ensuring smooth transmission, high load-bearing capacity, low noise, minimal wear, and significantly extended service life.
Equipped with an adjustable atomizing spray unit that precisely controls the application of water, steam, or binders. This accommodates the specific moisture requirements for forming various raw materials, ensuring uniform granule formation.
Specially designed curved lifting flights are evenly arranged along the inner drum wall to ensure uniform material lifting and cascading. Material retaining rings at both ends prevent spillage and control the effective granulation duration.

A welded frame made of thickened structural steel, offering stable load-bearing and high vibration resistance. It is suitable for long-term, continuous, heavy-duty operation and allows for easy installation without complex infrastructure requirements.
6. Discharge Adjustment Device
Allows for the adjustment of discharge speed and granule retention time, meeting production needs for various granule sizes (1–6 mm) and adapting to diverse production standards.
The biggest highlight of rotary drum granulator is its strong adaptability to raw materials. It covers almost all powdery and finely divided fertilizer raw materials. It does not require complicated modification processing and is suitable for the production of organic fertilizers, compound fertilizers, biological fertilizers and other categories. It can be divided into three major categories:
1. Organic raw materials
Decomposed livestock and poultry manure (chicken manure, sheep manure, cow manure, pig manure), crushed straw, sawdust, fungus residue, sugar residue, sludge, kitchen fermentation materials, cakes and other agricultural and industrial organic waste are the core processing equipment of the organic fertilizer production line.
2. Compound fertilizer raw materials
Basic chemical fertilizer powders such as urea, monoammonium phosphate, diammonium phosphate, potassium chloride, potassium sulfate, calcium magnesium phosphate fertilizer, bentonite, kaolin, etc. can process high, medium and low concentration compound fertilizers, and are suitable for hot and cold granulation processes.
3. Improved composite raw materials
Organic and inorganic mixed powders, soil conditioners, trace element fertilizers, bacterial fertilizer raw materials, etc. can be customized to produce functional granular fertilizers. The finished products have strong stability and are not easy to harden.
The rotary drum granulator employs the principle of wet agglomeration granulation, relying entirely on physical rolling, adhesion, and compaction to form granules. Free from the energy losses associated with high temperatures or high pressures, it is a mature process well-suited for the mass production of fertilizers. The main drum is installed at an inclination of 3° to 5°; during operation, the motor drives the drum to rotate at a constant low speed of 15-25 rpm via a system comprising pulleys, a speed reducer, and gears.
Pre-treated powdered raw materials enter the drum at a steady rate from the feed end. Specialized internal lifting flights continuously lift and cascade the material. Combined with water, steam, or a specialized binder introduced via a spray system, the material undergoes a complete process of rolling, collision, adhesion, agglomeration, granule growth, shaping, and solidification;driven by the combined forces of gravity, centrifugal force, and friction. Fine particles continuously adsorb powder to grow in layers, ultimately forming spherical granules of uniform size. Granules meeting specifications are automatically discharged from the outlet end due to the drum's inclination, while unformed fine powder is recovered for re-granulation, enabling a continuous, cyclical operation.
