Working principle of roller extrusion granulator for processing fertilizers

As an efficient granulation equipment, the working principle of the roller extrusion granulator contains the scientific secrets of mechanical mechanics and material forming.

After the equipment is started, the power system drives two rollers to rotate towards each other at a stable speed. The material enters from the feeding hopper and slowly flows towards the gap area between the two rollers under the assistance of gravity and the feeding device. The size of this gap is one of the important factors affecting the granulation effect, which needs to be precisely adjusted according to the material characteristics and the required particle size.

As the rolling mill rotates, the material gradually enters the extrusion zone. In the extrusion zone, two rollers apply tremendous extrusion pressure to the material. This squeezing force comes from the rotational power of the rolling mill and the mechanical structure design of the equipment. Under the strong squeezing force, the distance between material particles is significantly reduced, and the intermolecular forces begin to play a role, causing the material particles to bond and fuse with each other.

The concave die on the surface of the rolling mill is a key design for the roller extrusion granulator. The shape and size of these concave molds have been carefully designed, resembling miniature molds. When the material is extruded into the concave mold, it will be shaped into the same shape as the concave mold. Due to the continuous rotation of the rolling mill, the material continuously fills the concave mold, forming continuous strip-shaped particles from the discharge end of the rolling mill.

After leaving the rolling mill, the strip-shaped particles enter the cutting process. Cutting devices are usually composed of high-speed rotating blades or other cutting mechanisms. The cutting device accurately cuts the strip-shaped particles into independent particles according to the pre-set length. The precision of cutting directly affects the uniformity and appearance quality of particles.

The working principle of the roller extrusion granulator determines its efficiency and stability during the granulation process. Compared with other granulation methods, it does not require complex additives to assist in molding, reducing interference with the original components of the material, especially suitable for the production of products with high requirements for nutrient content and purity. At the same time, by replacing rollers of different specifications, the shape, size, and density of particles can be flexibly adjusted to meet the diverse needs of different industries and products.

A deep understanding of the working principle of the roller extrusion granulator can help operators better grasp the operating rules of the equipment, improve production efficiency and product quality, and promote the development of related industries.
