The difference between the new fertilizer granulator and the disc granulator

2025/03/21

The new fertilizer granulator and disc granulator exhibit different characteristics in the fertilizer manufacturing process, and understanding their differences can help companies make more suitable equipment choices.

In terms of working principle, the new fertilizer granulator relies on a high-speed rotating disk. The raw materials diffuse from the center to the edge under the action of centrifugal force, and the nozzle sprays a binder to form the particles under the combined action of centrifugal force and gravity. The disc granulator uses a tilted rotating disc, and the material circulates on the disc under the action of centrifugal force and friction, achieving particle aggregation and growth by spraying adhesive.

In terms of particle morphology, the new granulator produces particles with a shape close to spherical, which is due to the combined effect of centrifugal force and gravity, resulting in relatively uniform force on the particles in all directions. This spherical particle has better dispersibility in soil and a larger contact area with the soil, which is beneficial for the release of fertilizer nutrients. The particles produced by the disc granulator have a relatively regular shape, but are mostly approximately circular with high roundness. However, compared to the particles produced by the new granulator, their sphericity is slightly worse.

In terms of production efficiency, the new fertilizer granulator, due to its high-speed rotating working mode, can process a large amount of raw materials in a short period of time, resulting in high production efficiency. But it also has high requirements for the stability of the equipment and the supply of raw materials. The production efficiency of the disc granulator is relatively low, and the speed and size of its disc limit the amount of material processed, making it more suitable for small and medium-sized production.

In terms of raw material adaptability, the new fertilizer granulator requires high flowability of the raw materials in order to evenly disperse them on a high-speed rotating disk. At the same time, there is a strong dependence on binders, and suitable binders are needed to ensure the formation of particles. The disc granulator has relatively high requirements for the viscosity of raw materials and can handle some materials with high viscosity well. By adjusting the spraying amount of the binder and the parameters of the disc, it can adapt to different characteristics of raw materials.

The energy consumption and noise of the equipment are also factors that need to be considered. The new fertilizer granulator, due to its high-speed rotation, consumes relatively high energy and generates significant noise, requiring corresponding noise reduction measures. The energy consumption of the disc granulator is relatively low, the noise is also small, and the impact on the working environment is relatively small.

There are significant differences between the new fertilizer granulator and the disc granulator in multiple aspects. Fertilizer production enterprises should weigh the pros and cons and choose the most suitable granulation equipment based on their own production needs, raw material characteristics, and product requirements.
