The application value of roller extrusion granulator in fertilizer production field

2025/03/20

The roller extrusion granulator is a fertilizer granulation equipment that can achieve precise molding and has unique application value in the field of fertilizer production.

The granulator is mainly composed of a motor, a reducer, a pair of rollers, a feeding device, and a discharging device. The motor provides power to a pair of rollers through a reducer, causing them to rotate towards each other at the same linear velocity.

After pre-treatment, the fertilizer raw materials are uniformly transported to the gap between the two rollers through the feeding device. As the rolling mill rotates, the material is gradually brought into the extrusion zone. In the extrusion zone, two rollers apply strong extrusion pressure to the material. This squeezing force can overcome the cohesive force between material particles, causing them to approach each other and tightly bond together.

The surface of the rolling mill is engraved with concave molds of various shapes and sizes, which are the key factors determining the shape and size of the particles. When the material is squeezed into the concave mold, it will be shaped into the corresponding shape. Due to the continuous rotation of the rolling mill, the material is continuously squeezed and formed, and extruded continuously from the other side of the rolling mill, forming a strip-shaped particle belt.

Subsequently, the strip of particles will pass through a cutting device. The cutting device cuts the strip-shaped particle belt into uniformly sized fertilizer particles according to the preset length.

The roller extrusion granulator has many advantages. Firstly, there is no need to add adhesive. This not only reduces production costs, but also maximizes the retention of the original components and nutrients of fertilizers, ensuring the quality and efficiency of fertilizers. Secondly, the particle molding is precise. Through precisely designed concave molds, fertilizer particles of various shapes and sizes can be produced to meet the personalized needs of different users.

Of course, there are also some challenges with roller extrusion granulators. For example, there are certain requirements for the particle size and humidity of the raw materials. If the particle size of the raw material is uneven or the humidity is too high, it may affect the extrusion effect and particle quality. Moreover, after long-term use, the concave mold of the rolling mill may wear out and needs to be replaced or repaired in a timely manner.

Nevertheless, the roller extrusion granulator plays an irreplaceable role in high-end fertilizer production and fields with strict requirements for fertilizer particle shape and quality, thanks to its precise molding and no need for binders.
