Characteristics of NPK fertilizer granulator's flat mold granulator

2025/04/22

Flat mold granulator is a distinctive granulation equipment in NPK fertilizer production, which brings a unique solution to fertilizer manufacturing with its unique structure and working principle.

The flat mold granulator is mainly composed of a drum, a flat mold, a pressure roller, a transmission device, and a feeding system. A drum is a horizontally placed cylindrical component that moves in a circular motion driven by a transmission device. A flat mold is a flat plate with many evenly distributed mold holes, installed inside the drum. The pressure roller is located between the drum and the flat mold, and rotates synchronously with the drum.

During operation, the feeding system transports the mixed NPK fertilizer raw materials into the drum. As the drum rotates, the raw materials are carried between the pressure roller and the flat mold. Under the squeezing action of the pressure roller, the raw material is extruded through the holes on the flat die, forming a columnar material. After leaving the mold hole, these columnar materials will be cut by the cutting blades on the rotating drum, forming fertilizer particles of relatively uniform size.

The flat mold granulator has many advantages. Firstly, its structure is relatively simple and easy to operate. The layout of each component of the equipment is clear, easy to maintain and repair, reducing the maintenance cost of the enterprise's equipment. Secondly, the granulator has strong adaptability to raw materials. Both moderately viscous and slightly fibrous NPK fertilizer materials can be well granulated. Thirdly, the produced fertilizer particles have good strength and regular shape, which is conducive to subsequent packaging, storage, and transportation.

However, the flat mold granulator also has certain limitations. In terms of production efficiency, compared to some large modern granulation equipment, its production capacity may be relatively low and not suitable for large-scale, high-yield production needs. Moreover, during the granulation process, due to the presence of mold holes, there may be blockage of the mold holes by raw materials, which affects the continuity of production and requires timely cleaning and maintenance. Despite these shortcomings, the drum flat mold granulator still has a certain market among small and medium-sized enterprises in NPK fertilizer production due to its simple and practical characteristics. It can meet the needs of some enterprises for medium-sized production and specific raw material granulation, adding a unique strength to the fertilizer production industry.
